AKTIVITAS MENGISI WAKTU LUANG UNTUK LANSIA DI TIONGKOK : STUDI KASUS HONG KONG

Abstract

Ageing society has become a serious issue for many countries in the world, and China is no exception. Hong Kong is one of the regions that has the most elderly population in China. The elderly’s preference of leisure activities is affected by the local culture. Through a qualitative approach, this study will discuss the cultural influences on the type of activities prefered by senior citizens of Hong Kong. This paper ends by concluding that Hong Kong has a unique culture. This region is a melting pot of Chinese and western cultures. The distinctive culture of Hong Kong leads to a unique preference of acivities performed by the elderly. There is a mixture of Chinese tranquility and western pleasure in every activity. All of these activities have something in common, a mixture of Chinese and western cultures.

Abstrak

Masyarakat menua sedang menjadi masalah penting bagi berbagai negara di dunia, termasuk Tiongkok. Di Tiongkok sendiri, Hong Kong menjadi salah satu region yang jumlah penduduk lansianya paling banyak. Aktivitas mengisi waktu luang dibutuhkan oleh lansia untuk meningkatkan kualitas hidup dan kepuasan hidup, serta menjaga kesehatan fisik dan mental. Aktivitas yang dipilih untuk mengisi waktu luang ini dipengaruhi oleh budaya suatu daerah. Penelitian ini akan melihat pengaruh budaya terhadap jenis aktivitas yang dilakukan lansia Hong Kong dalam mengisi waktu luang. Di akhir, tulisan ini menyimpulkan bahwa Hong Kong memiliki budaya yang unik. Merupakan Special Administrative Region di Tiongkok dan pernah dikuasai Inggris telah membuatnya memiliki budaya dengan perpaduan budaya Tiongkok dan budaya Barat. Kekhasan budaya Hong Kong membuat aktivitas yang dipilih oleh lansia dalam mengisi waktu luang pun sangat unik. Ada nuansa ketenangan ala Tiongkok dan kesenangan ala Barat dalam setiap aktivitas yang dipilih oleh lansia Hong Kong untuk mengisi waktu luang. Semua kegiatan tersebut selalu memiliki ciri khas yang sama: perpaduan antara budaya Tiongkok dan Barat.
